Embryo Cryopreservation in Raleigh-Durham, NC
Embryo banking involves the cryopreservation of fertilized female eggs for future use. The entire process includes the collection of eggs from the ovaries, fertilization of eggs with sperm in the laboratory, and then finally freezing the embryos for storage.
The Embryo Freezing Process
The expert fertility doctors at Atlantic Reproductive, as a part of our comprehensive listing of fertility preservation services, are available to assist our patients throughout the NC Triangle and beyond with embryo cryopreservation. Contact us to begin the embryo freezing process, which includes:
- Egg Collection – Similar to in vitro fertilization, the embryo freezing process begins with the collection of eggs. It’s important to try and capture as many healthy eggs as possible upon retrieval.
- Fertilization through IVF – Eggs can be fertilized to form an embryo through in vitro fertilization and/or intracytoplasmic sperm injection, also known as ICSI, which only requires one single sperm to be introduced directly to the egg.
- Storage – Embryo freezing, also known as embryo cryopreservation, is the last step in the process. Frozen embryos can be safely stored for years.
Atlantic Reproductive also offers egg donation services to our patients. If you’re interested in helping a family make their dream of having a baby come true, please look into becoming an egg donor.
