Atlantic Reproductive Medicine Specialists Receives Accreditation From College Of American Pathologists
The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) awarded accreditation to our laboratory here at Atlantic Reproductive Medicine Specialists based on results of a recent on-site inspection conducted by CAP inspectors. The inspection team included practicing pathology and laboratory medicine professionals. As evaluations are performed every two years, this is the third time since 2012 that our laboratory has been evaluated and each time we have been awarded accreditation.
The CAP advised David Wininger, Ph.D., HCLD, of this national recognition and congratulated the laboratory for its excellence in the services being provided. Our laboratory is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
Wininger says, “The CAP Accreditation process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. We completed our inspection in July 2019 and the inspectors had glowing comments about the preparedness of our lab for the inspection and the entire lab staff.”
Upon learning of the laboratory’s accreditation, Dr. David Walmer, co-founder of Atlantic, said: “At Atlantic Reproductive, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care and we believe that participating in the CAP Accreditation process gives our patients assurance that we are delivering on that promise.”
The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
Congratulations to the pathology and laboratory medicine team for this significant accomplishment that further demonstrates our commitment to high-quality patient care at Atlantic Reproductive Medicine Specialists.
