Atlantic Fertility Is Now FertilityEquity™ Certified — Here's Why It Matters

We earned FertilityEquity™ certification — and here's what it means for every patient we serve.

Black female same sex couple fertility

Our commitment to comprehensive, compassionate fertility care extends to every patient who walks through our doors, regardless of race, background, or family structure. That's why we're proud to share that our team has earned FertilityEquity™ certification in culturally competent fertility care.

This milestone means something real to us. Here's why.

The Equity Gap in Fertility Care Is Real

Infertility affects people of every background, but not everyone experiences the same barriers to getting help. Research shows that compared to white women, Black women face significant systemic disadvantages in accessing fertility care:

  • Black women are twice as likely to experience infertility¹

  • They are less likely to seek treatment options¹

  • They are up to 6 times more likely to have difficulty finding a physician with whom they feel comfortable²

  • They are more than 7 times more likely to have difficulty getting an appointment²

  • On average, Black women attempt to conceive for up to 1.5 years longer before receiving care²

These are not small gaps. They reflect real systemic, cultural, and interpersonal barriers that stand between patients and the care they deserve.

What Is the FertilityEquity™ Certification?

The FertilityEquity™ e-Learning Modules were developed by Morehouse School of Medicine with support from Ferring Pharmaceuticals to address these disparities directly. The program educates healthcare professionals and fertility clinic staff on the importance of equitable, compassionate fertility care and provides actionable tools to apply that knowledge in clinical practice.

The curriculum covers:

  • An in-depth exploration of the Black fertility experience

  • Individual and organizational strategies to drive equitable care

Certification is awarded when at least 70% of a clinic's provider team completes the program, a bar that reflects genuine organizational commitment, not just individual effort.

What This Means at Atlantic Fertility

Earning FertilityEquity™ certification reflects our commitment to ensuring that every patient, especially those who have historically faced barriers to care,  feels seen, heard, and supported from the very first appointment.

Patients who come to Atlantic often tell us they wish they'd found us sooner. We want to make sure that's true for everyone. And that starts with our team doing the work to understand the full spectrum of experiences our patients carry with them.

Every Family. Every Path. Welcomed Here.

Whether you're a heterosexual couple, same-sex partners, a single individual pursuing parenthood, or someone who has felt overlooked by the healthcare system, you'll find a welcoming, affirming environment at Atlantic Fertility.

We're proud of this certification. And we're even more proud of the culture it represents.
